- Motor mounts...3:1 asiatam gearboxes for panzer III. I used tamiya panzer IV motor spacers with one additional washer, bolted to aluminum plate and hull...also thick brass bar support between motors. everything fits nicely and all wheels line up! You can also see the inner suspension mount retainer for the upgraded suspension. I added a thin washer between the retainer and the brass bushing I placed into the hull earlier.

Nice work Xrad
how does it scale up compared to 1/16 panzer IV ( meaning do you think its closer to 1/16 than 1/15 as it looks it with those tracks and sprockets)

Re: 1/16-15 BANDAI Hummel to Nashorn conversion
not including the hull extension, the hull (not bodywork) width and height are nearly identical to tammy P-IV hull. Tammy wheels are slight bigger diameter.
Some of the bodywork (gun citadel) is slight bigger than 1/16
Bandai drive and idler wheels are slightly bigger diameter than asiatam 1/16 wheels. Not really noticeable when tracks in place.
the original Nashorn was over 9.5 ft tall, KT was just over 10ft. I have to put them next to each other to measure the difference......
Overall, pretty close to 1/16..

Plastic Scouser: Finally got some pics for comparison
Drive wheels and idlers = 1/16. Tracks are P-III P-IV 1/16 scale asiatam with nice detail. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for more track to finish the hull.
I measured against Tammy P-IV and the bandai hull is only about 3mm wider. The only real difference in size is the width of the track guard and the spacing of the suspension mount points. The Bandai Nashorn is pretty close to 1/16..only a few diehards will notice the difference.
There is plenty of room in the hull for motors/electronics/batts..etc...

Re: 1/16-15 BANDAI Hummel to Nashorn conversion
Xrad I have a question would the top hull fit on a Tamiya Panzer IV or a HL Panzer IV lower hull with some miner modification .
Thanks
Jimmy
Thanks

Jimmy, Great question!
Here is a comparison..Tammy v HL. Let's assume that you have or will have a BAndai Hummel kit. The Bandai kit has the track guards and the hull molded as ONE piece. The hard part will be to get the track guarsds to fit,OR make it easy and build your own.
Obviously, you would have to lengthen the hull for either conversion. The HL hull is about 5mm too narrow for the bandai superstructure. BUT, the bandai superstructure fit PERFECTLY into the width of the Tammy hull.
It may be easier to work the plastic of the HL hull, but the Tammy hull allows more room. Tammy hull is a real PITA to get all the parts for (unless you sorder them all from AAF or jasons store). The Tammy suspension and build is much better than HL IMHO.
The first three pics Bandai on Tammy aluminum hull. You can see a real nice fit from the rear.
Last three pics a HL hull...not so good.
In any case, I recommend the Asiatam PanzerIV/III low profile motors/gearboxes.
There will be some effort to do this but well worth it???? I don't know, nuch measureing and repositioning of suspension..........If you have the Bandai kit, it is cheaper to just upgrade like in my build..
