another problem

Post by KV1s »

Hi Guys

H/L Kv problem

I thought i would get a bit of a head start for my metal tracks etc by taking the plastic drive sprockets off which means removing the gearboxes...

All seemed to be going well until i noticed little resistance in the screws that hold them in

3 of the little posts are split and what seems like threaded plastic came out of the other 3..not good

Is it time i gave up on the plastic hull and got a full metal 1?

Hi Aaron,
You should be able to sleeve the mounting posts with brass tube that you can buy from your local hobby/model shop.
Find the right diameter brass tube to fit over the mounting post then cut a "collar" from it. Use superglue to bond it in place.
All should be good then. The screw will hold tight as if nothing was ever broken.

p.s. I've got some pic's of the KV1 at Bovvy for you. Nothing outstanding, but hopefully something useful.

pm your email address and I'll send them in a fullsize format. You can pic out the detail far better at this resolution.

All the best,

Nick.
