The concept worked for me and while I wanted a Sherman 90mm TD to battle with, I am not real a Sherman model fan and didn't want to invest the money or time to have two complete Sherman's sitting around. I decided I would rather wait and see what Tamiya might release new for 2011 and or build a Panther or KV-1 (at years end). But I also wanted to build something rc armor in 2010, so this was a good compromise project for me. And another thought, with the growing popularity of rc tanks, I have recently found that the resale value for nicely built Tamiya f/o TBU kits is pretty strong compared to even just a couple of years ago. So, I was surprised to be able to sell off two earlier, unused builds to free up both space and funds for new projects. I am more centered as a kit builder than a rc tank collector or even a club battle day type, and I do get tired of some of my models after a couple of years or more.

The M36B1 TD: "In October 1944, there was a lack of M10A1 hulls to carry the M36 tank destroyer's turret with its powerful tank-busting 90mm gun. The plentiful Sherman M4A3 late hull was substituted with only minor alterations needed mainly to accommodate the TD's larger ammo rounds. The resulting M36B1 had the advantage of thicker hull armor and a bow machine gun. Only 187 conversions were done, and there are reportedly only a handful of photos of these beasts in action, but they are an impressive sight. According to Steve Zaloga, they were deployed to tank destroyer battalions including the 605th, 654th, 705th, 813th and the 899th during the Battle of the Bulge and were fought in the ETO until Germany surrendered."

Actually, a Jagdtiger shot the turret top clean clear off one day and that's how the British Army tank destroyer concept developed in WWII, true fact.
