Well I wasn't the only one...

Post by wibblywobbly »

After getting to France on the morning of 4th May, having to wait a week to get to the France Telecom office 10 miles away (12th May), and then spending 30 minutes while some dunderhead fills in an online form for me, then being told that the internet line will be installed on 25th May, then being telephoned twice to confirm that they would be there between 13:00-15:00, then two oiks turning up at 16:45, then them refusing to drill a hole through the wall for the cable, then me trying to explain that the builder had forgotten to put a loft hatch in, then me ringing a French speaking friend so that he could explain that there was no loft access, then them still refusing to install the line, then friends wife ringing the builder, then me telling the installation oiks to wait 5 mins, then the builder turning up, borrowing my saw, and sawing a hole in my freshly painted brand new ceiling...in the wrong place, and then sawing another in the right place, then the FT oiks finally installed the line, then ...they proudly announced it might be live in 3 weeks and left, at which point the builder tells me that he will be back the following week to repair the two holes.

So another week goes by, the builder doesn't make an appearance, so I am left with two holes in my lounge ceiling, then another week goes by and no internet still, So I ring FT and ask where my line is, and I am told it will be another week, so I wait another week and no internet, so I ring FT again, and speak to someone who tells me that some work needs to be done, and did I want to speak to tech support, so he transfers me (this is all on my mobile phone!) , so I did, and the guy tells me that some work needs doing, but he will call me back on 16th June between 10-11am, so I wait another week, and did he call, did he hell!

I wait another couple of days and was all prepared to take the router, gift wrap it and drop back at the shop, but my friends realised that their websites were out of commission while I was offline, so his wife met me at the shop to translate...but the assistant had just spent 2 years working in London and spoke English. Anyway, he checks their online records and...tells me there is a problem and that he will ring customer support...but despite twenty zillion attempts he couldn't get through.

So, he tells me that he will ring them later on and then give me a call. We leave the shop..

Later that afternoon he calls me. There is a problem, it will take a week to fix it. I will have a landline on 22 June.

On 21st June I switched the router back on just out of wishful thinking...and the internet light came on. I turned the PC on and I was live!

I hit the RCTankWarfare button.....and the bl**dy site was down!! :/

Today is the 22nd....but the telephone light is still blank.

AND I still haven't got a wheelie bin, and the builder called in last week to tell me that he will be round at the end of this week to fix the holes, and I have now discovered that the only part of the roof that I didn't have replaced is in serious need of repairs!!

How's things over there, you had an election or something didn't you? Apparently the Rothschilds were voted back into power again?? :D

oh come on Rob....where's yer sence of humour.

If you'd moved to Wales (that rather wet, soggy lumpy bit that sticks out of England on the left) you would have been burnt out by now.

It sounds as if all the ex council workers from Essex now work in France.....just your luck they live near you.

Keep yer pecker up mate.......
