Thought I'd officially introduce myself

Post by khensu »

So... hello!

I'm, rather obviously, khensu. I got into RC tanks through a sort of "joke" between me and my girlfriend. She joked last December that she should get me an RC car for Christmas, to which I replied that I'd prefer a tank - not even knowing they existed!

But the idea stuck and every time I thought of it I found it to be quite awesome. A model to change, maybe one day (when I dare) some electronics to mess with, ... cool. So 26 December (!) we walked all around town to all of the hobby/model shops to try and find a tank. We didn't, because apparently all the hobby and model shops in this city are owned by people who hate RC tanks.

I ordered a Heng Long Panzer III online that day, and it arrived early January. Late January I got a HL Panzer IV. Later I also got a Panther. Then my girlfriend got me a Tiger. Five months, four tanks in a small appartment. Either we need to move to a bigger place or I need to stop buying tanks (I think we should move ;)).

So that's my tank-lifestory. Massively uninteresting, no doubt. However, for those who prefer visuals over vocabulary, I made a simple gallery of my RC tanks. Feel free to have a look.

I'm very glad to have found this forum, as it has been very interesting so far to say the least!

Thanks everyone.

I've actually removed a bit of paint on the Panzer III because (as it was mentioned on here when I posted a picture before, and I had to agree with it) in reality it looked a bit too bright. That's in the later pictures ("secondpaint" in the filename; towards the top in the gallery). I actually ended up preferring the first whitewash try-out I did. Ah well, I'll get it right at some point!

And god yes, they're addictive (but it beats an addiction to heroin!). I've never liked taxes or bills, but even less so now that I want to spend all my money on these little things - I paid the gas and electricity this month and all I could think was "that could've bought me two and a half tanks, damnit." :haha:
