2.4GHz Transmitters

Guys,

I know nowt about this hence the question,sorry if it's a bit 'off topic', but can you use a single 2.4GHz tranny to control any 2.4GHz model?
I know some of you guys fly helis and planes too so you are the guys in the know. I did find out that Spektrum requires its own receiver, but is this true of Futaba, Sanwa etc?

Hi I have 2 Spektrum radios DX5e And DX6i the DX5 will only control one model ,the DX6 has a 10 model memory so you can have 10 models controled by one transmitter (BUT not all at the same time)Most of the 2,4 ghz radios can store models but not all ,if its cheap it will only store 1 model ,it is pretty easy to change the model over on the DX5 takes a couple of minutes (open up the model bind the radio and close up)but only takes seconds to do it on the dx6 change over on the radio only.You Get what you pay for DX7 radio has 20 model memory ,dont forget half the cost of these radios is the RX(reciever)the more models you have the more it will cost 6 channel rx is about 40 quid.

Pete is spot on there. I use a Futaba 6ex. I know a lot of guys on here like the Spektrum though. Min has multi-model memory, and was very easy to set up.
Again you would have to have a receiver for each model. I know the 2.4GHz FASST ones for the Futaba are about £65. I got the Tx and receiver for about £120.

ive got the futaba 7c and yes the fasst rxs are about £70 a pop, only thing to think about is with the tamiya tanks im not to sure how the tx will work as the trims are digital

It might help if I'm a bit more specific :o0

I've just bought an Esky coaxial heli on 2.4GHz, quite large for outdoor flying in calmer conditions, I then bought a smaller Esky heli for indoors again on 2.4GHz.

As they are both the same make can I not just use one tx for both helis (not at the same time of course)?

On the 6ex, I used the dual rates switch to overcome the digital trim problem. I just set the upper limit to 125% and set the DMD on the lower setting. When you flick the switch up, it controls the gun and MG, switch it down for barrel elevation.

A question about the 7c though, does it have a dial control on one channel? I'm thinking about upgrading so I can add a moving MG. What sort of switches does it have? Any 3-way ones?

ive got it with full prop elmod, it has a three way switch which i use for m/gun and fire main gun, it also has a dial control, ive got this set as lights and tank start/stop.
