Well done with the tiger it looks the dogs danglers well worth the effort you put into it and it deserves to be in masterclass.

hi rik great looking tank you have there also im looking for help could you give me the diamentions of the periscope in front of the loaders hatch i need to make one for my tiger as im doing a rebuild to a mid/late one

Hi raven,
Thanks for your comments. I mostly winged it with the periscope, and just went with what looked right. The cover on mine is 16mm by 9mm. The periscope itself in cross-section is 10mm by 6mm.

Unfortunately, I didn't keep any plans of the shape I cut into the brass, but its roughly the same as the ones in the Aber kit.

What an amazing build thread.
Rik your work on your Tiger is outstanding,you must have 1/16th scale guys helping you to achieve that level of detail!I reckon they come out with thier little 1/16th scale welding rigs when your asleep.
Seriously though,the brass work on the model is incredible.
Great looking paint,and I like the mud effects.

No problem Chris. The paint chips were a mixture of Vallejo Model Air US Grey, and a Touch of white, the a very fine brush with a pretty random movement.

Thanks Wight, its been a monster, but now its finished i'm off to other non-armour projects. I've been staring at the Tiger for so long, I need to do something that gets me out of the house, lol.

What a great build. The detail is out of this world.Do you think that it might be a tad better if you had stopped a little sooner.less the mud and weathering.It really doesn't seem that this tank would be operational
This may be the effect you want and the end result is a super model.

Thanks for your comments. It was a long build and an excellent learning experience. It should make my Sherman build go smoother.

The weathering and damage are ment to represent a tank at the end of the Battle of the Bulge, when the Germans were in full retreat. They got hit pretty hard by then, some of Fehrmann's Tigers were wrecks!
The mud I applied to be consistant with tanks of that period, after studying lots of pictures. It looks like a lot as it has no frame of reference. I plan on adding a diorama base and crew eventually to give it a 'scene' when on display.

The effects are a lot more subtle when you see it for real though. Most of the mud is on the bottom, which you hardly see! lol
