Post by brat67 »

HI TOO EVERYONE,, iam new too this hobby ,but have being a nitro boater for a few years.i will not go on about that but i have just bought a tiger 1 with smk, snd.there is one thing that is still puzzling me as ive searched before buying. T hat is a well known website can sell panthers with metal tracks and gearboxes for £115,when most gearboxes alone are 50 - 60 £and tracks even more.IS THERE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY HENCE THE DIFFERING PRICES.I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS ,thanks for your time.

if the gearboxes are the brass 3:1 type then they are alot more than standard metal ones, and worth getting, you can pick up standard metal ones cheap, metal tracks for around £30, as with most things if you buy complete it can work out cheaper than bit by bit i guess,

my opinion would be to buy a cheap tiger and upgrade to the asiatam style gearboxes at £40 a set of boxes they are much better than the h/long and closer to tamiya

Hiya brat.

Don't let this 'orrible lot tell you any different, there is nothing finer than a well sorted Tiger 1,
they rule the roost 8) 8) .

Ask the questions and we'll do our best to give you the answers.
I have a Tiger 1 myself,so go for it,you'll not regret it.

I must agree with Miggers,it's hard to beat a good Tiger and many many parts available for the Tiger. You may want to check out the Asiatam lower hull it's well worth the money.I have had my lower hull for a year and have never had any problems, control arms have held up to all running conditions, never thrown a track and the rear tensioners have held up very well.Sorry I can not post a picture right now but their are a few post on the forum about the Asiatam hull. Cheers Blake
