After looking into my problem further it seems there is a transistor on the board that has a constant 7 volts on 2 pins and when the tank is started up it de-energises one pin and allows the 7 volts to run through to the middle pin so hopefully I should just be able to replace that transistor and I should be fine again
My only problem is that when the tranistor gave up the ghost it messed up the part of the casing that has the model number on! I was wondering if anyone with an rx-18 lying around could maybe see the model number on the transistor? ( I had to use a magnifying glass) I can make out JGY but the lettering above that is too messed up.
The transistor looks like this and is located right next to where the smoke unit plugs in
Thanks for any help any of you can give me.
