New Tanker from the States!

Post by Theibault »

Hey all. So glad I found this forum. Doesn't seem to be any good ones State side. Anyways, I'm about to get a Tamiya Leopard, so I'm very excited. It'll be my first tank, but I have scores of other RC vehicles running the full gammut of land, sea , and air. Any tips from Leopard owners would be much appreciated.

hey, and welcome to the forum!

i have a Tammiya leopard being re-built at the moment, although its on hold for some upgrades being produced.

their are a few core upgrades for the leopard you'll need to buy if you plan to drive it slightly rough or off road, these are:

Metal torsion bar mounting set
http://www.afv-model.com/4711shop/produ ... e25ae3cf8a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Swing arm set
http://www.afv-model.com/4711shop/produ ... e25ae3cf8a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Metal bearing bolt set
http://www.afv-model.com/4711shop/produ ... e25ae3cf8a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and the metal shassie inner (cant find it on AFV at the moment)

im on hold because, although the upgrades are readily avalible from AFV, somebody in the UK is planning and testing equaly as good but Much cheaper upgrade sets. im just waiting on the metal inner.

hope some of this helps, i know its expensive but its well worth it :)

cheers,

Matt

Thanks for all the replies. I should be getting my tank within a couple weeks. I'll let you know and post pics! Forgebear and Matdragon, thanks for the links for the upgrades. This is starting to get very expensive (but compared to my racing 1/8 buggy, not so bad lol). Matdragon, should I hold off on my build based on these "equaly as good but Much cheaper upgrade sets"? Any kind of timeframe on availability?

So, my first build won't be a Leo. I decided to get a KV-1. The Leo will happen, but probably not till summer.
