RCU is sponsord by Tower Hobbies and they don't want a thread on their forum that is run by a competitor. Most other tank club forums are just that -  "Tank Clubs". This forum is different because it's run (in part) by Militarymight.

So if someone at Tower Hobbies (who are paying to be on RCU) see a "free" thread for a competitor then they'll want someone at RCU to do something about it.

If this forum was just a hobby forum then they probably wouldn't have had a problem with it (although some forums I'm on won't let you advertise any related forum as they don't want their members poaching.)

Makes perfect business sense.

Woz I must correct you but as far as iam aware andy from MILITARY MIGHT is a forum member like any other and as such doesnt pay for advertising or the like although that said he does offer a discount for forum members and is giving a non s&s tiger to the 200th member
this site is owned by matt/norse (not to sure exactly who LOL)

I didn't say that Militarymight were paying for sponsorship. They do trade off this forum though.

But if he was paying to sponsor this site and his competitors were advertising for free then he'd be a bit miffed about the fact that potential customers are going elsewhere.

All I was saying was that I understand why RCU removed the thread.

Everything’s fine when it’s just a hobby, but when business becomes involved then things get complicated.

I make a lot of money painting Warhammer figures. My mate wants me to show him how I paint things. Now if he was painting them for himself then it wouldn’t be a problem but he wants to sell them like I do.

The hobbyist in me wants to show him but the business part of me thinks it’ll be a stupid thing to do because I’ll just be adding to the competition and could potentially be shooting myself in the foot.

Hi there Woz thats what you call a catch 22
Here is something else to ponder we posted 77 out of the last 300 posts on RCU and were the last to answer 85 of the last 300 posts thats just the Brits if you were to count the members it would be alot higher .That dosnt inculde the ones they have deleted.Do the maths a little over 25% of posts and just under 30% of replys ,we are a main source of input to RCU and are the only ones getting posts deleted because we have started a club in the U.K.

If we stoped posting on RCU they would think as Bigmig the forum is dying .
