Pershing and DX5e help!!!

Post by Yellowshaker »

Guys, I cannot get the functions to work with this radio setup. I am runnign the BR6000 receiever. When I do the setup I either have some funtions or others, but not all. Sometimes I have recoil and machine gun. Other times I do not. Sometimes I can get the tank in gear...other times not. i have rtried running through the setup for 2 hours and still having these issues. I did go by the Pershing manual and step by step. I really need help here. Only I have these stupid issues with tanks!!!

Based on my experience with the DX6i, what you need to do before you start the MFU setup process is to make sure your radio's dual rate switches are in the OFF or "0" position. Also have your dual rate ON or "1" settings at 110-120%. Again, make sure that your dual rate switches are OFF while setting up.

Hi Had the same trouble with the DX5e so I used my Dx6i ,But it is posible to use the DX5 with the Pershing ,R32 has the right idea it is the duel rate switchs that have to be in the off postion so you can set them to max after so you can get the Pershing out of engine idle,Its much easyer to do it with the DX6i because you can programe the radio as you go its posible to set switchs to fire M.G. and also main gun .Its alot easyer to ues the DX5e with other tamiya models because they dont have the silly start up as the Pershing,the pershing will sit there all day if you cant get the throtle to 110% in reverse.

Well after an all nighter I got the thing to consistently get into gear. I did what you said with the dual rate switch...but I still cannot get the recoild and machine gun to work. This is a huge PITA!!!

Thanks alot. Seems no one I spoke to has any experience with this setup, though I have learned that some guys in the Arizona club are using it....unfortunatley I have no links to them.

Hi Take a look here http://www.customrcmodels.com/Tanks/id77.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and here cant find the dx5e http://web.mac.com/ethandunsford/DAK2/Radio_Room.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I do remember reading a post some where that when you set up the radio and dmd/mf units first bind the radio which you have done ,then set the radio duel rate to low ,then follow the instuctions in the tamiya manual ,after doing this set the rate to high .Give it a try and let me know some time you also have to move the trim tab on the gun to full to make it fire this works both ways up main gun down m.g. .

I took a look at the DX5e's setup and realize that you do not have dual rate settings and apparently, no end point adjustments too. You have a single Hi-Lo switch that give ailerons, elevator and rudder channels more range of movement (70% low, 100% high). You will notice that the throttle channel has been left out.

There is also a "trick" that you can use to get around all these problems. Simply, when you run through the MFU's setup, where you are instructed to push your sticks to the full extents of the travel, do not do so. For each channel, push it only two notches over (the white painted bars next to the gimbals). By doing so, you deceive the MFU that you only have a limited range of motion, and the MFU establishes the basic controls based on that. Now, in actual operation when you need the auxiliary functions that are "hidden" away in the corners where you normally need to sweep your trims up, all you need to do is to push it to the full extent.

Good luck with it!

Wow, wish I checked back here a while ago. lol I actually found this out on my own about an hour ago. I decided to try it as a last effort to get the thing to work. All of my functions work perfectly and I don't nee dto move the trims for anything except getting the Pershing in gear. Thanks so much to all who helped me out here. As usual you guys never give up on a fellow tanker. Much appreciated and hopefully i can help some of you in the future!
