1/16 IMAI Elefant on ebay
1/16 IMAI Elefant on ebay
I could never believe that their would be such a price on an 1/16 scale Tank, but many of you have far more knowledge of these things than I,Here is a link to this very expensive Tank. http://cgi.ebay.com/1-16-Imai-elefant-e ... 414c0b20ce

Hi The front idlers look a bit out of wack ,the price is stupid I think he must have paid alot for it and with the threat of a new Elephant coming out hes trying to get some money back before the price falls through the floor.

If you read the listing, he's basing his price on what a new In box one went for ($5500).
A NIB rare kit will always be worth more one thats been built regardless of how well it's been done.
It is a hugely optimistic price, good luck to him if he gets it, but it seems unlikely.

The guy selling it builds some real nice models and has website with other builds. Apparently, this model has many metal and resin parts and is supposed to be a pretty good kit. But I think he still upgraded the drive system, wheels, and tracks because the original was static (I think)
There is a guy on another site who had three Imai elephants 1/16 scale. But, he paid as little as ~250$ for one and maybe 500$ for each of the others back in the 80s- or 1990's.
Anyway, the price is crazy high for this scale unless it comes with gold armor. Wait for the new one to come out (fingers crossed)

Re: 1/16 IMAI Elefant on ebay
We should be proud of our selves, the moderators had to get involved over at RCU the debate over this tank got heated to say the least, seems like people just can't just agree to disagree. The fellow with the three elefants was very humble about his collection and it more or less ended the debate over the value of this kit/tank.They have removed many of the post so if you take a look it might jump around a bit. Cheers Blake

- TANQUE provides a pic of his collection at the above link. He should be quite proud of these (hope he does not mind me posting his pic!) This is the largest grouping of Elephants since the transport trains left for the eastern front. Honestly though, I am not a real fan of the graffiti like cammo job on the right tank.

Yes it got a little heated there for that thread but going well now and the guy with the 3 Elefant's got them in the early 80's for less then we pay for Tamiya now and they look good he was just at the right place at the right time to get them

I never did like those things, its pretty ugly tank in my opinion.
The asking price is ridiculous, but fair enough to him if he sells it!
For the money though i'd rather buy a Mark-1 1/6th!

Rik
