WHY 1/16 SCALE
Does anyone know the answer was this scale was chosen. Why not 1/18 as there were figures and vehicles being made by forces of valor and 21st century toys.
The only scale i see that truly has it worked out with therms of accessories etc is 1/6

Re: WHY 1/16 SCALE
I suppose 1/16 came about because of tamiya. They were among the first to produce models in that range back in the 1980s. Even then bandai had to be awkward and do their models in 1/15 scale. I really think that forces of valor should have used 1/16 instead of 1/18, which doesnt really look right along side the tamiyas.

I think it's similar to the VHS/Betamax story one manufacturer thinks his is best and does that

Re: WHY 1/16 SCALE
Yes Rob but betamax was a better system much better quality than vhs but which one won.

Re: WHY 1/16 SCALE
Bandai, Imai and a few others built tanks in 1/15 scale starting in the late 60's Tamiya started 1/16 in the 70's but only had a limited amount of success with this scale it wasn't until Tamiya started again with the full option tanks around 6-8 years ago that things really started to move again the rest you all know

Betamax died because the porn industry went with VHS (it was easier/cheaper to get a VHS camcorder).
I think different manufactures try different scales so that they won't be accused of copying.
Re: WHY 1/16 SCALE
Interesting question. Have you ever wondered who picked the popular modelling scales and why they double (or half) like they do? i.e 1/16 is almost twice the size of 1/35, which is almost twice the size of 1/72 etc
You aint gettin me on no plane fool!
Re: WHY 1/16 SCALE

Does that mean if the porn industry gets involved in our hobby they will dictate the scale as well.
leaves open a number of possible films.
