Reason I ask is Im putting together a OO railway layout and figured, as i want it to be steam and based in the 1930's-40's, I might as well try to squeeze some tanks in there somewhere
Allied tank transportation in the run up to D Day & after
Allied tank transportation in the run up to D Day & after
How did the Allies move the vast number of tanks around England in the run up to D/Day? I assume the Allies used trains to transport the many Shermans, Cromwells, Churchills etc around the county but i havent been able to come up with any decent reference pic showing them and how they we stowed. I suppose this major operation was done under cover of darkness and kept under intence lock and key but there must be something out there. Even pictures taken after DDay when the cat was well and truely out of the bag would be useful as they would still be using the same transporters & equipment.

... Its ok though, i can give them up any time a want to...
Im just not ready yet

Re: Allied tank transportation in the run up to D Day & after
I used to build railways and always wanted to do a goods yard with tanks, transporters, etc etc. During my search for rolling stock and trains, accessories etc I came across others doing the same...none of us were having much luck.
Hope you find that elusive scene!
