Tamiya Battle systems

Post by mickyb »

Hi fellas

I was attaching the battle system LED onto the Sherman turret using the supplied fitting that clips on the barrel and decided to try something different because it spoils the look of the tank tank.

Unfortunately the tank is fully built so any work on the main gun mount is worrying me.

The Tamiya LED holder part Q2 is a one piece moulded tube and clip that clips on the barrel, I am thinking of trimming the clip off the tube and glueing this tube inside the turret on the back of the gun mount this hiding the fitting and wiring completely.

Has anyone else done this already.... or is there a better alternative please.

Have a good weekend.... Mike

Hi Mike There is a problem doing it the way you have discribed that is you have a flash fitted inside the barrel and this would block the I.R. signal ,the only way to do it is to fit it in the mantle either the way shown in the link or fit on the other side where the coax gun is ,I have done it without removing from turret but I fitted mine a little bit more towards the center so it didnt hit the hinge bracket.
When fitting the I.R. emmitter in it should be 10mm from the front of the tube this is to focus the beam ,I dont know what would happen if the full length of the barrel was used it may work but you would have to remove the gun flash from the barrel if you decide to go with your idea.
