Mato has them on offer for $69 right now - still more expensive than Dave, but this might be useful to our US viewers - Shipping to us here in Detroit is currently $14 for 3, your experience may vary depending on where you are and which customs post processes your shipment...

The electronics are pants, but you might get away with them if you don't go overboard and fit metal tracks. If you want to battle, then you'll need to throw them away as they are not compatable with the DBC/DBCRC2 (the Transmitter isn't HL compatable either).

To answer the original question - the Mato tanks are sold thru a much smaller number of dealers, so their production cost is higher per unit. As Matt pointed out, its also larger than a HL so the box is bigger = higher shipping cost per unit, because there is less per container / pallet
(which I'm sure is why HL's tiger and Pershing have barrels that are too short! B| )

hang onto your money for upgrades the mato kt is an exact copy of a tamiya uper hull and rear pannel so you can put a tamiya metal lower hull right under it with better syspension wheels tracks and make a real tank out of it the lower hull parts are cheep and readily avalable have done a few of them and it is very easy to upgrade
