Matorro King Tiger Wheels

Post by Ern »

Since there are a lot of Matorro posts lately, I thought I'd ask a simple question. How do you remove the road wheels? I primed the lower hull, but sprayed and turned the wheels until they were all covered, but don't want to waste the Tamiya paint when I paint them with the base color, and adding the camo pattern won't look as good unless I remove them. Do they just pry off like the HL Tigers wheels, or do you pop the caps off and do something different. Sorry to ask such a simple question, but I don't want to break anything...

Hi Ernie,

Have you checked the Blitz (Phil) about this. He should know as he has done a lot of work/upgrades to the MKT

To get the wheels off a Matorro KT remove the centre hub on the outer road wheels ( caerfuly pop off by putting a flat head screwdriver behind the flange and twisting ). For the inner wheels the whole centre hub and it's extension simpley need to be pulled off. Then the fun bit you have to push the axles out from inside the hull same as the HL tiger set up. I took all the outer wheels off first by placing each wheel over a pop bottle cap then push straight down on the axle to be removed. The pop bottle top stops you stressing the suspension arm and mounting but allows the axle to be pushed out of the suspension arm and beyond the rim of the wheel. You can then hold the wheel in place and with your fingers or a pliers pull the axle fully out. One the outer wheels are done do the same for the inner wheels. Hope this helps

I got the KT from Blitz and he did an awesome job converting to HL guts for me with the Asiatam 3:1 gearboxes - Matorro electronics couldn't handle the metal tracks and the gearboxes. He's a busy man and I knew that someone here would know the answer!
