Hi.
I've been directed to this site by Stephen Boyd of Welsh Dragon Models, and I'm hoping that the combined membership will be able to help me.
I recently bought a Heng Long Tiger 1, and I'm trying to upgrade it bit by bit. Tank Zone have been very helpful to me so far, but I keep writing to them, and I'm probably driving them up the wall.
I've started logically at the top, by buying a Commander's cupola internal details set for an early production Tiger. Although I've been a modeller [off and on] for years, this is the first time I've attempted a superdetailing project. My problem is that there are no instructions for how to position the parts, or how much of the original cupola I need to remove.
I guessed that when I bought it I'd need to do some research, but I can't find any information as to how to proceed. Is there anyone who can help me, as I'd like to do a nice job on this tank - the most expensive toy I've ever bought myself!
I've also bought a fan cover, which has little wing nuts. What is the accurate orientation for this on the turret roof?
I live in Letchworth, North Herts. I'd like to find out if there are any groups reasonably local, as I feel a bit silly trying an anschluss on the garden shed with my Tiger alone.

Hi. Thanks for replying so quickly.
I don't have any pics as yet. My plan is to produce a wnter camouflage early production Tiger 1, with a few bells and whistles. So far, I've done what I hope is a passable whitewash and mud job, and bought in the cupola internal detailing set from Tankzone. This comprises an inner resin ring, with white metal hatch and parts. originally I thought I was getting the complete cupola - I hadn't registered that it was just the internal detailing set.
So far my Heng Long Tiger still has its original cupola and hatch. I need to know the following:
1. Do I need to remove any parts of the original cupola after I've detached it, or do I just insert the resin ring [with parts attached] and put it back in position?
2. I have no information as to how to fit the detail parts together. I thought there would be instructions of some kind, but there is nothing. I'm in a similar position with the fan cover. This comes supplied with little wing nuts, and I need to know the correct orientation on the turret roof once the wing nuts are glued on.
As you may guess, after years of having instructions, even scanty ones, I'm a bit at sea. My money is limited so I can't afford too many mistakes, so it's detail information I need. should you wish to contact me please pm me and I can email pics that way.
The Tank Zone kit number on their site is: T150260 if you want to look at it.
Thanks again for replying.

Firstly welcome to the forum! Always good to have another Tiger owner here. I'm currently superdetailing a Tamiya Tiger which you can check out here;

Hopefully it'll give you some ideas.
On your question, i'm not sure about the Tankzone cupola kit, but I built the Aber photo-etch one. This is what that one looks like finished if it helps to posistion the parts;

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. This forum will help you greatly. It helped me a huge amount!

Cheers,
Rik
