M-26 Pershing Build

Post by Pcomm1 »

This Pershing (built as a backyard fighter) is at the 1/2 way point and ready to try and take it to the next level. I'll sit down and weather it after the holiday season. It runs great, built stock out of the box, but it was a 6 months of, off and on, tweaking challenge to get there. It has a TBU mounted with the emitter in the barrel and the TC slips over the TBU receiver plug.

Thank you.

The Pershing work in progress and my Sherman M4 were steeply discounted at my local brick and motor hobby shop, because it was closing for good. Sad day to see them go after so many years, but a lucky and amazing 2 for 1 deal for me. I walked in at that right moment to purchase 4 bucks worth of paint and had some explaining to do when I got home. Surprisingly the wife was OK with it all.

The Pershing is a great kit, but also a challenge to build. This Pershing was especially difficult because it is a rebuild, restore and setup to rc tank fight club standards project. This Pershing had sat for 3 years in that hobby shop's display case, while looking good, it had been poorly assembled, the wrong glue had been used (cleanly) in some places, so things were dropping off. And nothing worked, it was just a static paper weight afv model. But everything works great now.
