Heng Long Tank Electric Motors.........?

Post by Dietrich »

Hi Guys :~ ,
Does anyone know if the 'Latest Type' of Heng Long Electric Motors are any better or worse than their older 'White Tops'......The new ones have a much wider pinion gear and have a metal base, where the elecrical contacts and the rear bearing is.They also have a white label stuck on which has ..RS-380SH with RN484517 written below and MADE IN CHINA below that.
Thanks in advance, :D

Ask swathdiver,he created the gearing calculator using all the data from different motors and different pinion gears. He may well know the answer to your question.Saxondog

Hi Saxondog,
Thank you for that ,I will send him a PM and see if he can help me. I bought a new set of metal gears and these motors came with them so I need to know if they are a step forwards or backwards ?......They look better than the' old' type but I wonder if they are more powerful as well....
Regards, :~

Dietrich, the calculator was in the download section which is still being upgraded.Depending on where you purchased your drive/gearbox they are most likely a step up.Do you know if they are 3:1 ratio gearbox? That alone is an improvement as the motor require less amps at that ratio,if you know the brand of gearbox I have the calculator saved and could check the rating for you.Blake

I have the HL JP and the HL Panther, Both have the same chassis set up and exactly the same gearboxes. The JP has the new motors you described and the Panther has the white ended motors. I have noticed that the JP is a bit faster and a lot more manouverable and responcive than the Panther. I have ordered some of the new motors to fit into the Panther to try to give it the same performance as the JP.

UPDATE - The new motors arrived today (Thanks Dave) and what a difference. Lot more torque and more control.
