-Ferdinand 231-3D Print-

Post by Shameless86 »

Hey Gang!!

I've just competed my first 3d printed build and I'm very happy with it! Figured I'd bring it here to show it off!!

These files from cults.com rc 3d tanks. Reasonable price in my opinion. Easy to understand, printing and assembly. Also I like its an early one. Different from the hooben, you can do kursk - Jan 44. The next one, which is already printed... is going to be 331 Franz Kretschmer at Nikopol Bridge head where he earned his Knights Cross. Im gonna get on that as soon as the Jagdtiger is done.

This one however is based off of gun # 231 the commander is a uncertain. Münch has it listed as Oberfeldwebel Friedrich Meigen also he was awarded german cross in gold in September 43. Alternate sources not as reputable had Oberfeldwebel Otto Hecker listed as commander. I paid no mind to this until literally 2 min before I posted it on FB, I found an actual picture of 231 in Münch s book and Hecker is listed as the commander in that caption...... soo yeah. Maybe Friedrich was in it at kursk and then somewhere different later on and Hecker took it? Hecker listed in 232 at kursk but they all have ? On the end. In münchs book. Maybe Hecker was in it the entire time?? Friedrich dosent show up anywhere else beside kursk in 231 and the german cross award mention.

Moving on, this has a Tk 7.1. Servo for elevation and a taigen speaker. Pretty bare bones. This one has the nylon tracks off my hooben. I had to modify the supplied sproket slightly. This is the first one I haven't had to cut the fenders off of!! I just never installed them hahahahaha working SMArT!! HA

This was also the first time I tried filters and binding pigment! Weathering this was more fun then Weathering all the others combined!!
Mr Chef had mentioned/demonstrated the filters on Fb got me thinking about it. Im happy how it's turned out and looking forward to doing some more!!

Luckily Ive been waiting on one last detail for my Tiger 134 before I shared it on here but i betcha itll be some pigment on there when ya see it!!

This I just looks evil. In a very good way. The last two photos, with it sitting there in the sun, looking all benign, just shows the power of these brutes.
You don’t get wiser as you get older. You just run out of stupid things to do.

I, too, especially like the outdoor photos. However, I also drool a bit at the bookshelf. Well done, Shameless!

Beauty! That's alot of real estate to get rid of layer lines from. Always looking for new techniques so c'mon, spill the beans! Well done!
