Sig 33 on Panzer III chassis

Hello,

I would like to invite you to watch the construction of a SIG 33 B on a PzKpfw III.
As you probably know, not many of these vehicles were built.

Damaged tanks that had been sent back from the front were used and converted.

The target area was the Stalingrad region .

Twelve were deployed there and lost.
The last tanks were delivered to the 23rd Panzer Division. At the end of 1943, the last tanks was lost .


The base is a PzIII metal hull, the Profiline kit, and an upper hull from the HL Panzer III.

The Profiline-kit is made of resin with some PE parts.
It only forms the basis. Some things will have to be rebuilt. The Dremel will definitely become my best friend in this project.





The conversion kit from Profiline is not for the faint-hearted, as it comes without instructions or measurements.
This means research and measuring.

There is no need to dwell on the flaws of the metal subframe, but you can have fun with that too.


My first task was to improve the chain tensioner slightly. The tensioning screw is too bulky, and a little more stability could help.













I'm not sure what's left of the lower hull, but I'll overhaul or even replace the suspension. I need to gather some insights here.

I am watching to learn, Guido! I am curious about the slots on either side of the chassis, each indicated with relief-cast arrows. Are those for spring-loaded flanges to secure the upper hull?

Yes, exactly, the slots are for attaching the upper tub.
I will do without them and close these slots.

The upper and lower hull should become one unit.
The casemate and the front part will be attached with magnets so that they can be opened. The speaker and the battery will be at the back—that's the plan.

Yes,Doc,the slots are exactly that. I have one of the Taigen Panzer 111 chassis for my Stug build. The slots on each which you use a screw driver to activate the release mechanism to remove the deck is horrible. Guido, if your chasis has the early release system and you want to upgrade it to the new system as I have you will find the new system on RC .Tank.de for sale . One small rod coming out of the very back of the chasis and from underneath to activate the release mechanism. Works great

This will be fun to watch. The Profiline kits have always intrigued so a cut-by-cut assembly diary will be interesting! Plus the Sigg is so ugly-cute.

"You will find the new system on RC .Tank.de": Ah, yes, I know the slotted Taigen Pzkw. III well. It took me a year to figure out how to open it ( ) and another year to manipulate the screwdriver correctly.

Work on the tank hull continues. I have fitted the rollers with bushings and turned suitable axles on the machine.





Openings for the obsolete system are sealed, a new rear panel and details are made from leftover materials.





I have modified the Panzer III upper hull so that the casemate can be test-fitted once.





the next step will be to pull up the track chain and check whether the distance between the chain and the upper hull now fits.

Hello,

the Profiline kit is missing many details, which you have to create yourself.

For example, the antenna base is completely missing, and the tow coupling at the front is made of three resin parts, which also need to be modified.
I have made the bolts on the lathe, some copper wire, and small chains, and it's already looking quite good.

The openings for the pistol ports are on the doors, but the plugs are missing for these too, these are made also on the lathe.
