Re: Tips for painting a tank?
I don’t think dunkelgrau was used this late in the war for tank camouflage.
Re: Tips for painting a tank?
It wasn't.
That Jagdtiger if it was the 2 tone would have been base Dunkelgelb RAL 7028 and Olivgrun RAL 6003. Late war 1944 into 1945, Olivgrun RAL 6003 often served as the primary base, sometimes with Rotbraun and Dunkelgelb stripes (Hinterhalt-Tarnung) or even applied thinly over primer.

Tamiya TS-78 Field Grey will give you that green. It bears no resemblance to a grey
That is the green I used in my Tiger rebuild in this thread

Re: Tips for painting a tank?
It may look more gray because of lighting or filters or weathering applied or just what the builder wanted to use. It doesn't have to be 100% period correct to enjoy.Jofaur86 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 20, 2026 11:18 pmThank you so much for your replies... I have another question regarding the paint job. I found a JDT with a camouflage scheme I like on the RC Tank.pl forum, thanks to my friend "Kaczor," whom I thank again. But I'd like your opinion on the type of paint. Is the base color "Dunkelgeb"? And the darkest color a gray/green, according to him, even though it looks gray in the photos?

This is the stuff that you'll want to use for painting hard edged camouflage especially with rattle cans-

There are several brands and it's all pretty much the same stuff. Used to be called "Panzer Putty". Now AK, Ammo/Mig and other brands make it. Based on the size of the Jagtiger I suggest at least 2 cans maybe even 3. It's great stuff also because its reusable many times over.

Jagdtiger is so big when I painted mine in the Group Build section using camo putty I did it in 4 parts. Lowerhull, Barrel, front third of upper hull and front of casemate, then rest of tank. Reason for this is with camo putty it softens and runs while on the tank for any long period.

Re: Tips for painting a tank?
The such low numbers of Jagdtigers manufactured and delivered to units & saw active combat are so low & quite well photographed.
It is said that even the Fuhrer himself was to be notified of every Jagdtiger action & vehicle lost.
The paint is fairly limited, options are not that varied, and most of those that saw service & were captured or self-destructed by the crews & then photographed by all & sundry were relatively easy to figure out the paint layout.
I would search actual period pictures & draw a conclusion only from those..................
