Coming along beautifully. Love these details.

Here's a pic of the Finnish Stug at Bovington with its lumber. I wonder how it compared to the crazy concrete work you see on some Stugs?

Any idea on a Finnish date for this? Hah, see what I did there...
Looking very nice.

Your logs are looking good. They will look great once you have taken your mini axe to them to rough them up :D

Interesting build. I think if I do a Stug I won't change out to a Clark board. Will just have it as a fun project to keep the costs down

Logs, Bark and mounting straps-

Image

Practicing some bark using Acrylic Paste. Just stippling it on. Dries relatively quickly.

Bent some styrene strips and used a hairdryer to heat and shape them. These 4 are the best of about 8 that I made. Inconsistencies aren't noticeable when the strips are positioned on the logs. As well since these are field mods a bit of imperfection is appreciated.

Hopefully you can realize where I'm going with this. If not it will be apparent in the next few steps.

I like the bark application trick. Much better using dowels and that trick than walking in the woods trying to find suitable sticks which is what i used to do

But that's the best way to meet women!

That's a cool technique Mr Chef, using the acrylic paste. Should look like some great wood! ;D

That will work a treat Mr Chef.
Looking like a Spruce tree common in the Taiga Forests in Finland

Mock up time.

Still working on the logs, more chipping, chopping and dry-brushing to come but I wanted to get an idea how it's gonna look. The straps are primer now but will be colorful soon.
