SYRIAN RUFFIANS-2013 CIVIL WAR

Post by HERMAN BIX »

Thanks again to Mr Raminator and his printing wizardry, I got a few Middle-Eastern fighter figures a couple of months ago.
Now Im waiting on parts its a good time (if painting a figure is ever a good time :lolno: ) to get a couple on the go.
These will be set with my T72 & 'Technical Hell Cannon '.
Running the risk of Law Enforcement knocking on the door after triggers by my Google watchdog, I went in search of pics of combatants from the 2012-2015 time period to match the theme of my tank.
They seem to have had a lot of a local made version of U.S. Woodland crossed with Brit DPM.
Not being overly concerned with strict accuracy like a Pea Dot or a Bonesak Fallshirmjaeger smock, I went at it on 2 jokers BDU pants.
Im happy with the look-near enough. The RPK guy has a better back surface than front one, no idea why, but he'll do.
Still lots to do on these plus 3 more to do after them.

Got the smock done on the PKM guy and the vest, mag carrier & sweatshirt on the RPK guy.
The smock took a bit of time to lay down base coats, then lighten the paint mix & do a modulation kind of thingo on it.
looks suitably disheveled & will dust up well I think.
I pretty much freestyled the camo on RPK ole-mates sweatshirt from one I have myself & the vast array of kit seen in the theatre means nothing can be wrong!
Can say Im not looking forward to doing the 7.62 X 54R ammo festooned around the dude with the PKM :/

A bit more done on these guys.
Head dress and scarves a lot different than the usual on German figures, but challenging none the less.
Eyes, boots, weapons and weathering still to do

There's not much needed with the eyes: in bright sun, they would be squinting.
As a side note: fourteen years ago, I retired and a newly-hired young Syrian Asst. Professor was put in my former office. She has been a quiet and noble success ever since. But, oh, what she must have endured.

Thanks lads, these jokers have quite a bit going on & tho close to done, still take a bit of dedication to complete!
Weapons are a dry brush of gun metal over the base shade, with a yellow rust on the furniture which was then washed with MIG 1002 track Wash.
The 7.62 x54R ammo belts were a real :poop: :headbang:
Eyes & boots..............

By the way, as Im that way inclined :shifty: ............hes carrying 156 rounds of 7.62 x 54R in the belt festooned around his torso...................
I've carried that and more of those at times back in the day & its certainly a weight you know is there.
I liked to empty them out as quickly as possible to lighten the load & have as much fun as possible !!
Nagant strippers, SVT40 mags & loose rounds, was easy to get the ammo load right up knowing once it was gone, you were a spectator & missing out on the action.
The DP, well, that was of course never used as part of the days business............. :shh: nope, that would be doing the wrong thing ;)
