lol hanks pete :D

i will be wearing a full faced helmet from now on,

truth is it wouldnt have helped much anyway, i forgot to unlock my front susspension after riding on the road, so when i hit the floor on my front wheel after being 8ft in the air at 20mph my bike didnt take the impact for me, so i flew a further 3 meters int the air and face planted the ground, knocking me clean out. anyway my mates called an ambulance and i was taken to hospital where i was xrayed for broken bones ect but i just came out with masses of cuts and bruises on my face, arms and chest and a massivly swolen eye and lips due to my brace shredding the inside of my mouth :( - i would add the actual accident bit my mates told me, becase i suffered mild concussion so i don't remember a thing.

anyway if id have worn a helmet, at the angle i hit the floor a helmet may have snapped my head back and therefor broken my neck, i dread to think ......

cheers guys,

Matt

Well Matt if we ever meet you will notice a very bad scare around my throat, this is from the helmet strap, the best BELL had to offer in 1984,still broke my jaw bone in three places and many other bones,Spent 3-months in hospital,8-weeks of which was ICU,9-days out of touch with reality.I still managed to race again but the lesson I share is without the helmet I surely would be dead.I am glad you are allright Matt, their were 10 of us racing back in the 80's five still living and all that died were wearing helmets but racing is a dangerous bussiness and you can not be to safe, hope you heal well, best wishes Blake

OUCH Matt bet that hurts. Hope you get to feeling better soon mate. Maybe it would be better if you stuck to tracked vehicles rather than the two wheeled type :D . All the best for now
