Post by FireflyKeith »

Because i dont want to pay stupid money for Tamiya Acrylic Thinners can somebody recommend another brand that works well with the Tamiya Paints.

Cheers Keith :-)

Im not sure about the Tamiya paints, id like to know for them as well. I prefer the Vallejo Air Acrylics, the carrier liquid seams a lot friendlier, and you can thin them with water. The finish is nicer as well in my opinion.

Maybe a touch of white spirit? You could try water with the tamiya's on a bit of scrap plastic. They are water based I believe.

I will try both these methods tomorrow and see how it turns out, probably will take forever to dry with just water tho.

the best thinners for tamiya paint is car screen-wash, its first class stuff, water is too thick so don't use it...............oz

Which screenwash do you use blue, green or orange, or does it not matter.

any-one of them will do Keith but personally i prefer the blue, it makes my paint look pretty :haha: .
seriously though the color doesn't affect the paints at all and because of the antifreeze/alcohol in the screen-wash it dries in about 5 to ten mins, if you use vallejo paints water is the best thinners...................cheers oz.
