TTP Models Ltd. Experience?

Post by MrChef »

Has anyone used TTP Models Ltd. before?

https://ttpmodels.com/

They say they're the worlds largest Tamiya supplier?

I'm having issues finding and availability of Tamiya RC products over here on this side of the pond. And ordering from a European based supplier is impossible now. As in they don't even want to get involved when I contact them. I've communicated with Felix at Axel's already and they just won't now.

What say you? TIA

They seem ready to ship to the USA so I can't see an issue. Just be ready for whatever charges you get in addition to their shipping now that di nominis exemptions are toast.. I'm not sure why the reluctance of companies to ship to the USA. They pay nothing extra, you as the buyer are the one paying the additional taxes--I mean tariffs--when an item is imported. I guess it's a great way to make Tamiya move all of their production facilities to Lexington, Kentucky. ;D

I had similar issues with Axels. I've been in contact with them and they don't want to deal with it.

Here's TTP-

The more important reason I'm curious about TTP is because the parts I want are the best prices I've found anywhere.

"de minimis exemption" a U.S. trade rule that allowed goods valued under US$800 to enter the country without duties or taxes. https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-40/c ... tion-66.32

That's the way almost all my RC Tank things came from the UK, China, Taiwan, or Europe etc. By current U.S. executive order, and perhaps pending a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, this longstanding exemption from tariff/tax is gone.

Well so much for my grade 10 Latin! Yes, de minimis from the esteemed HDP!

Ebay is struggling to come to grips with it all, and of course have come up with an ebay shipping service to help sellers out with the duty/tariffs/taxes/customs fees etc. It adds about $50 to what FedEx would charge and I'm sure none of that fee is pure profit for ebay...

So you had grade 10 Latin! You're way ahead of me! I had month of self-study with an elementary Latin grammar textbook. Almost daily I have lunch with a historian who keeps throwing Latin at me until my head spins. I checked "di nominis" in Google Translate ( ;) ) and got jibberish in English. So I scratched my head and started web searching. That's my "Latin" knowledge. :haha:

Annnnnnnd, Back on topic.

Communications with TTP was successful. They will deal privately through Email just not through their website. There will be a nominal fee above the shipping charges but even with that included the total price for the item will still be less than from other sites with said item in stock.

Soooo, question still remains.Has anyone had dealings with TTP before I respond with the email deal?
