This is the battery mess I have now

Ahh its the old 27mhz crystal transmitter/receiver and that is old maybe 15 or so years
I would be wary of running it on 7.4v as i read somewhere years ago the mosfets(speed controllers) were running at the higher end of the safe side and wouldnt take much to make them pop

That Setup is just a little bit older than I am running in the 13-14 yr. old 'Porsche' King Tiger. That rebuild is currently running an L-Ion battery that is a 7.4 and I have noticed that it makes the Smoker 'really' pump. So much so that I had to use lithium grease on the plastic parts. I am going to go back to an older 7.2 battery now that the mechanical bits of the Rebuild are done. Good Advice, Alan!

Maybe you could reconsider rebuilding it to a 2.4 GHz with a HL TK-7.0 mainboard?
These run absolutely great!

I second Rob59's advice. We could walk you through the change-out and the improvement will be well worth it.

I'll third it! The low speed control of 6.0/6.1/7.0/7.1 mfu transforms the tank from a jackrabbit start jerky thing to a more realistic and smooth running tank. If only it had rich Corinthian leather!

A PZIII with 7.0 mfu, plastic gearboxs and tracks/wheels? Doesn't get much more reliable and fun than that!

it's been a long time since I posted anything on the forum? Is it due to some serious personal problems? But anyway, just to answer our friend, and his PZ III, the battery in the photo is yellow, so very old and of the NiCd type (currently no longer manufactured? in principle? replaced by NiMH, but many people use LiPo these days (but use and charge with precautions). And frankly, for beginners and if you don't know much, prefer NiMH or Li-ion. On Chinese websites, they're 7.4 volts and 7 Ah (7000 mAh). As for the difference between 7.2 and 7.4 volts? It doesn't change much, because a battery at the end of its charge is at about 8.4 volts with a proper charger, and not the original HL one, which isn't really a charger at all, but a simple transformer and 4 diodes, whereas a good "intelligent" and automatic charger will be the best for maintaining the batteries.
