Hi Guys As promissed here Is a detailed guide of how to do the Schurzen for the StugIII going to break it down into stages so the photos and the write up are together first stage is to mark out the schurzen this must be accurate because of the hole pattern and fitting the support bracket renforcements .Drill holes in the side of superstructure and file square to fit renforcing bars drill hole in upper surface place bar though square hole and mark with drill where hole will be remove and drill & tap Ive done these 2mm place bolt though hole to hold in place mark where it need to be cut cut to length fit in place using bolt to hold in correct postion and bond with epoxy or c.a glue make sure you dont glue the bolt a bit of oil on bolt should stop this happening

Stage 2 drill hole pattern in schurzen 2mm take all the sharpe edges off dont want blood on it next is the tricky bit bend 3mm square brass bar so it lines up with the hole pattern take your time doing this its the hardest bit but if you get it right it makes the rest easy when your happy you have it mark the first hole and the last hole remove make sure they are in the middle of bar drill and tap 2mm screw the bar to schurzen plate and mark the other holes remove and check drill and tap the remaning 11 holes macking sure they are in the middle of the bar after you have done this open the holes in the schurzen to 2,5 mm this gives you clearance for the bolt and if you had to move any hole in the bar will still allow you to get a bolt in then mark the forward and rear postion of the schurzen so when you place it on the side of the tank it is always in the same place see photos have marked mine with pencil a little hard to see so put arrows on
Stage 3 making the mounting brackets out of 3mm angle cut to length requried this may vary if you are fitting wide tracks you will have to leave a bigger gap between the schurzen and the body of tank ive made mine 6mm dont no if its big enough for wide tracks but it dosnt look to big make front and middle brackets the same size just a mirror image left &right what ever you want to call them allow for the holes in the super structure mark these and drill 3mm so you can hold in place with bolt line up the schurzen to the marks on tank then make sure that where the brackets fit there isnt a hole that you drilled earlyer mark and drill &tap brackets to schurzen then make lower suport brackets for these postions as in photos drill &tap bolt together and check if you are happy with postion then solder up with bolt holding it in corrct postion also solder vertical brace when you solder it .
Hi Guys stage 4 after assembling the support brackets and soldering them check they are in line and havnt moved or twisted during soldering also check holes through the schurzen are in line with top of track guard as showen in photo if nessasary gentley bend till they line up or strip it down and adjust so the holes line up make rear support out 3mm angle drill and fit this one dosnt take a lot of weight just holds the schurzen in line then cut main support bar to length
stage 5 for this you can use what ever is the easyest for you I used aluminium for the most part and brass when I needed a bracket .Cut 8off 3mm square lengths of aluminium drill hole in end to suite the reatining bolts that you will be using. Ive done mine 2mm cut to suite the space its going in some need to shorter than others and one near the support bracket needs filing to fit in place. Put a Bolt though each hole and bond in position with ca or epoxy adesive the forward most position you will have to make a small bracket fot 2 holes and bolt to tank body .
