Any experience with "Delta-LT" or "WheelFun" on Amazon for free Shipping in USA?

Post by KernelClinq »

I'm shopping around for my first tank, and pretty much down to either HL M41 or M26 in 1:16. While I have some faith with MotionRC, their "Pro" editions are a little "weak". I am kind of looking for my first tank to be "maxed out" from the beginning like metal road wheels, 360 turret, upgraded suspension and so on. I want to run it indoors and out right away (after function tests, battery charging, putting on the decals & trim bits). If I enjoy this one, maybe the next tank would be a project with painting, 3rd-party gearboxes, motors, tracks with rubber pads, etc. And of course I could do those things to my first tank later on, also.

Anyway, both "https://toucanhobby.com/" and "https://henglongtanks.com" have customized versions with 360-turrents, full metal running gear (incl road wheels), rubber-pad metal tracks, etc. I think both websites are equally hard to navigate, and are they are probably one in the same. Shipping to Texas is like $60, and I worry about returns (burned by a banggood seller over a defective RC plane).

So, I move onto Amazon and find several great candidates with all these upgrades and free shipping:
https://amzn.to/3Lvd3dq Pershing with 5000mah Nimh batt. sold by "Delta-LT" under brand "DIRACCOS" (with free returns)
https://amzn.to/4oVX1aB (the Pro edition) Bulldog sold by "Wheelfun RC Hobby"

What are your thoughts on Delta-LT and Wheelfun via Amazon?

Many thanks!

Never used them. Toucan and henglongtanks.com are the same company. Toucan in my experience has been good, but others have had some issues. They do a lot of volume and they also do some custom work. I try to buy from their US distribution location which is noted on certian things on their websites. It's in NJ. Motion RC has been great to deal with. I think I've bought at least 4 tanks from them as well as a bunch of upgrades. Gotta be careful with some of these Amazon sellers as they are just Chinese shops on the back end. I've been waiting for a set of 550 gearboxes for my Maus for like a month through Amazon. I don't think Heng Long has a factory version of the Pershing with all the upgrades which is why Motion RC's offerings seem a little weak. They pretty much sell what HL has to offer. I remember buying my pro Pershing and had to add the metal road wheels, suspension arms and metal shocks to it myself. AliExpress has a bunch of these customized tanks, but with the current tariff situation the shipping can be a killer.

I was going to suggest AliExpress too but forgot that shipping to the US now is problematic. It feels strange for something to actually be easier and cheaper up here in Canada, although we are still dealing with our Zimbabwe style dollar. In the US I would stick with Motion RC. I have always found the prices on Amazon for RC tanks are really expensive in comparison to other sources

Thanks! Yeah, these must be "customized":
https://www.henglongtanks.com/products/ ... 2110499041 ($268 + shipping for $58)
https://www.toucanhobby.com/products/hl ... 4240869626 ($254 + shipping for $112)
The Delta-LT equivalent on Amazon is $279 shipped (but the product year listed is 2023).

Right? It's been over a year since I made any AliExpress purchases (RC micro-heli stuff), and yes prices generally are lower than Amazon. A couple vendors have been hit or miss, and AliExpress made good on a couple under-$50 issues. I'll check them, but the tariff climate in USA sucks right now.

After looking at that first Amazon link, don't buy it. It doesn't state which mainboard is in it. Being "Snow Leopard", it could be built off a very old tank. Heng Long originally called the Pershing the "Snow Leopard" when it was released and most of those had the older 5.3 version control board which is pretty much junk now. The Bulldog stated it was a 7.0 which is current. Amazon's return policy is pretty good, but there is someone claiming they didn't get their money back from Wheelfun RC Hobby.

Also keep in mind that with these "upgraded" or customized tanks, they will come as shown with silver wheels, tracks, and idlers. You will have to paint them. The rubber outers come off easily so they can be sprayed, but it will be hard to match the Heng Long base color. Most of us just repaint the whole tank and use something like gun bluing on the metal tracks to "blacken" them.

When dealing with ToucanRC you can look at their Ebay listings or auctions with sales person names like "colorneverfade" and watermarked Toucan pictures but Always be aware they may list a lower sale price to attract search attention then with their own sliding scale for shipping that doesn't have a particular rhyme or reason only to adjust the final sale price of the item purchased for thier benefit as opposed to the cheaper price listed.

For Toucan RC home site specifically in the US search "US Stock Pershing" and you will get what it is currently in their warehouse like this-

https://www.toucanhobby.com/products/th ... fce0&_ss=r

Which is a few $$ less than what you are already looking at and since its already in stock will be siginificantly less for shipping, Not $100.+ More like between $25 and $35.

BUT since the tank you're looking at is over $200 you can also use their chat online feature and strike a deal with one of their reps to reduce the price of the tank or shipping cost. It may take some time or even a day to have a full chat to come to a deal but I've been successful with this approach several times with them meeting my tank sale price as well as charging me $1 for shipping in the states.
