Has anyone modified their Sherman to use one of these:

If so would you recommend it or is it not really worth the price/hassle?

It sure looks like a direct fit for the HL Sherman. However depending on your skill/tools, this is what I've done to all my HL M4A3 viewtopic.php?t=32965&start=50 (starting on page 6). I will say I had no issues with the stock HL lower hull on any M4 build including the metal track versions. I did this conversion because I wanted a flat floor and strength was lost with the gutting of the hull.
Also I like to glue the trans/hull bolt strip to the trans casting. The metal would make it hard for me. That trans/motor drive system looks unique/cool, would love to give that a work out.

You are smart to ask. This is a Mato lower hull. Mato specializes in all-metal tanks. Sometimes they are great; sometimes there are problems with production quality. I would check Toucan Hobby first to see if the price with shipping is less from Toucan directly.
Watch out: there are fake Toucan Hobby URLs out there. I went directly to the one for the U.S. from which I have ordered without any problem at all:
