Unboxing a new big cat.

Post by Meter rat »

I always wanted a Tamiya Gepard, however finding one that is a good starting point is getting difficult, not impossible, just difficult.

So when Andrew at Haya announced he was planning on producing one I immediately placed an order, which arrived this morning.

Gave it an initial run to make sure everything works. It’s going to be a fun little adventure. Details are not as crisp as a Tamiya. Plenty of handles to remove, and replace with wire, one headlight not working, taillights to alter, periscopes to make, and quite a lot of flash and mould lines to remove. It’s also incredibly quiet, compared to my Leopard, and Challenger, and needs to have the daft track recoil turning off.

The hole of adding. I am unsure if this is both for the guns and exhaust?

Love a Flakpanzerwagon, just dont do it in Kelvinator white ok !!!
Credit to Mr Haya for brining new models to market. Must be worth doing or he wouldnt, but it would be easy for him to just recycle the ones hes done.
Have a word to him about a Hetzer someone !!!

As far as I know UN never used Flakpanzerwagons. I have now got a reason to find a white Gepard.

Hopefully he will not bring out anything WW2, especially German. There is enough of that sort of stuff about. There is a mention of a revised Chieftain.

Chieftain ??...............did I stutter??!!!!!!!!!
Hetzer.........pronounced Hetzer............if hes running a commercial operation & Im sure he is, get one of these out in mass production, affordable, with reliable delivery & operation as good as his others, he will sell dozens to one of all his others Im certain.

I've wanted a 1/16 Tamiya Gepard since I saw one in the 80's Tamiya catalogs. I just don't know if I want to take on another project, but I will watch yours and be jealous. :)

You could be right

I for one am happy Andrew is producing Cold War tanks like the Gepard, Leopard 1, Chieftain, and Centurion.

May be there is a market for different companies to specialise in different eras so there is less duplication?
Coolbank doing interesting WW2 tanks. Maybe a Hetzer next. Tongde, Vietnam models. And HAYA doing Cold War. But what do I know?

Yes it seems each company is finding a niche.
For Haya a T62 or JS3 would be fantastic if not a Hetzer
