Henglong ztz99a

Post by tomhugill »

Hey folks,

Browsing AliExpress and I saw this:

I just found this on AliExpress:
£184.38 | Toys 3899 Heng Long 1/16 Radio Control Main Battle Tank Plastic RC Military Model Infrared Combat Smoking Lights Sounds Panzer
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EJosFlw

This looks like a newer variant of the ztz 99 than I've seen before from hl, looks like one of their update models with the battery accessible from a hatch in the top rather than underneath. The digital camo from factory isn't bad either!

 And here is another, probably an upgraded version. I have not heretofore (woo! woo! fancy word! :D ) seen this camouflage scheme.

I had seen a teaser for this somewhere. Looks like it's an actual ZTZ-99A this time. It looks kinda similar to my Hooben version, but I think the Hooben details are a little crisper. In Heng Long fashion, they got the camo scheme correct, but left off one of the colors. I will admit it is much better than the awful colors on the original ZTZ-99 (non-A technically a Type-98) release that I also have in addition to the Hooben 99A version.

Colours look much better. Probably got too many complaints. The old colours made it look as plastic and fake as possible.

The tank itself also looks much better. Very handsome turret and ERA on the glacis and turret. Turret is very different, can see the arrow shaped extra armour on the front and extra armour near the rear baskets as a minimum.

Very pedantic, but in the advert photos, in the close up, you can see very obviously the digital camo is soft edged. They probably went up close with a stencil rather than masking the area off.

I'd probably get one eventually.
