Tamiya M26E1-1 Super Pershing

Hey folks

Because I can't finish a project I've started another.

Brad James printed me a rather nice set of conversion parts based on Vaughn Hills stls.

The Pershing I've had for a while with a mind to do a super p.

First order of business was to strip the stowage off. Unfortunately it had been attached with Gorilla glue. Folks, please don't attach you stowage with Gorilla glue if you ever have any intention of removing it! I tried heat but you're too close to melting the plastic for comfort. So corse sand paper and elbow grease it is.

Big saw to removed all the fender bit and some trimming of the pieces and I've got something looks fairly close.

I've got the barrel from dklm on order and hopefully the turnbuckles won't be far behind.

The most tricky bit of the conversion to find are the t81 tracks, I've a set stashed thanks to an fellow hobbiest.

I am watching attentively, Tom. I wonder: did the cooking help you loosen the Gorilla Glue?

It's a great start. A guy in our club bought those files and I printed them for him so he could do his conversion. His turned out pretty nice. I will say that the files are not optimized to print well. I ended up doing some of them in resin as I can tell that's what your printer did. The larger armor parts and the turret weight I did in ABS plastic. I had to cut the parts in half so that I could orient them to print nice. Good luck with the project.

Thank you! Brad had awful trouble with the printing, as you say lots of fiddling with rotation and supports to get it done.

I'm hoping given I've done one already I can rattle through the detail and not get bogged down this time!

Hey folks,

A little progress on the super p. Epoxied the remaining printed parts on. In preparation for the split loaders hatch I deleted the oval hatch,filled with styrene and sanded flat. Last but not least fitted the tamiya t-81 tracks and sprockets.

That hatch is a big marker Mr Hugill.
The one on mine is thankfully done, and I remember it was a hot topic back in the day during its construction.

When I eventually get back to mine the periscopes and hatch periscope guards are a big deal I want to sort.
