Hooben T-55 Suspension Clips

Post by B_Man »

Does anyone have a source for those annoying little horseshoe clips that hold the swing arms in on a Hooben T-55 or a good alternative? I'm about to do some upgrades to my long neglected T-55 that will include stronger springs so I will need to remove these things and I have zero faith in my ability to do so with damaging or losing any. I have reached out to Hooben but I'm expecting them to come back with a ridiculous price and these look like the sort of thing that come in packs of 100 for about $5. I have done a pretty through search of google and the usual rc tank suppliers but to no avail.

Not quite. They are these things:

I hope Ad Lav doesn't mind me using his photo. :shifty:

I had thought about using e-clips but I'm not sure if they would still allow the swing arm to move freely in the hull recess.

If you have some you may need in the future Herman, I would hold onto them. They are pretty easy to feed to the floor monster. I thought I had a few spares too but couldn't find them last night when I looked.

Ideally I'm after 10 just in case I can't remove them without damage but any would be better than what I have at the moment.

Well after a lot of checking, I have none at all.
The stuff I have remaining for both Hooben kits does not have any of those clips. The Ferdinand used E-clips.
The T55 bits I have also have the E-clips.
I do have a few of the E-clips that Mr Stormbringer mentioned. Perhaps yours is an earlier(or later) version?

At least the larger clips have something to grab onto for removal, unlike those tiny wire types.
Sorry mate, I was very confident.

B_man: by now you have probably checked. Anyway, if there is room for their greater diameter a better choice might be some E-clips. (But do not look straight at them without eye protection.)
