Imgur and the UK

Back to basics--what is the exact purpose of an image hosting service? Just image resizing? I haven't used anything since the photobucket ransom plan, and that was back when putting an image on a forum meant you were part of some kind of shoobeedoowaaw elite tech nerd.

Not sure what exactly they get you? Plus the "images in the public folder" may be used and sold by imgur makes me a bit concerned.

I too only use a tablet, which means I am now not able to follow some builds. Even those about Tigers. I am especially disappointed at not being able to follow ECAM’s Dragon Wagon build.

Early 2018 I was an active member on the forum and then "the photobucket ransom plan" happened (tactfully stated Mike - my words weren't so family friendly). Only a few visits and posts until early 2022 when I returned to posting and contributing. I was so disheartened when so many threads were near useless.

I will look to the resizing myself using alternate programs for resizing. Although the UK Imgur ban does not cause those of us west of the Atlantic to not see the pictures, it does affect me that the "home crowd" cannot. [triple negative for those counting - I know that doubles are frowned on - but triples...].

On my laptop and desktop comps i use paint to resize the images
going to 50% usually brings size down to less than a meg in size
I now directly load onto here

I do use vpn and they are not visible to me. Not sure if any of my own works a still visible

If you set the vpn (if you can) to other than UK Imgur images should show

VPN - would you people quit speaking Greek? Some of us older folk have no idea what jiberish you are speaking (at least Sassgrunt and myself - it's a family thing).

Np, Doc. VPN = Virtual Private Network. So on the VPN, (I do not use the IMGUR app myself so shooting from the hip here), if you set the location to someplace other than the UK on the VPN, stored images on the IMGUR app should be free of the UK restriction.

right on painless and Ecam i can even access my Imgur acct using VPN set to New York 'Ireland or Switzerland etc
and still see imgur images or my acct

I always have backup copies of my pics. I never leave the only copy sitting on a free photo hosting site. That reminds me...I need to do a backup....lol
