Hi, from a long time lurker

Post by kernewek »

Hi everyone, Craig here. I'm a Brit, originally from Cornwall but living and working in France for the past 20 years or so.

I started modelling back in the late 70s just before secondary school, the time-honoured way with various Airfix kits and small pots of enamel applied by brush. That kept me occupied for a couple of years and then I moved onto other interests.

Fast forward 40-odd years and my teenage sons are becoming interested in the military and WW2 in particular. One of them sends me a link to some RC tank sites and shortly after I pick up a used Heng Long Tiger off our local free ad website just for the fun of it ... and so it began ;)

Currently have four tanks: two Tigers, one of which I'm laboriously trying to turn into an early Pz.Abt 502 survivor, and a pair of HL Jagdpanther pro versions which were too cheap to pass up when Motion RC were selling 'em off a while back. I've plans for all four which will probably take years to complete, but I guess there's no real hurry.

Thanks for creating this forum, and happy tanking to all

Good Morning!
Welcome to the Forum! Pics of your Tanks when you get the Time, please. We love to chat and kick the Virtual Road Wheels around here. Only 4 Tanks? *chuckles* Involvement and the Amazing Variety available nowadays will soon resolve that.

Hello, kernewek! I am glad your sons are taking an interest in history. In my senility, I am leaning that nowadays the young consider even the Vietnam War to be old-timey. Gulp! At four tanks, you are on a good start, and how grand to have your sons join in! Along with Painless, I, too, would enjoy pictures when you get a chance.

Thanks for the welcome chaps. I won’t bore you with pics of my three presently standard HL panzers, but here are a couple of work in progress images of the 502 Tiger I’m slowly putting together. Currently fitting an alloy rear panel as the original is a tad warped and the gaps around the edges were atrocious.

Hello and welcome from Argyle and Bute. That is some commitment and skilled metal work on the rear of that Tiger. I am surprised Mr Chef, who is our current Tiger botherer in residence, has not been along and introduced himself.

Welcome to he forum Kevin.

Lot's to do on the Heng Long Tiger I and plenty posted on this forum sharing details.

Don't mind Mr. Rat he has a continuing internal conflict with Tigers. But believe it or not he has been known to have a few and does impressive work as well.

I have a hate/hate relationship with metal but looks like you've got the knack.
