Yep: initially there were rubber tires (O.K. UK: tyres), but soon it was steel, probably because of a rubber shortage. Ah, I see someone had to get into the photo. And I also see that open bottle of Testor's solvent. I'd have that knocked over in a few seconds--even without the Fireball or Knob Creek solvents.

Luke was sitting on the couch and wanted to have a look-see at the goings on. He is a Good Boy! He is laying on said couch, about to doze off as we all enjoy a quiet morning here in Gardner. His Sis, Luna, is snoozing behind me in front of the Fireplace. Chilly already up here overnight. Testers Solvent, yep, I go through that stuff, the Knob Creek and Fireball variants as well tho' nowhere near as fast as in younger days. (Thankfully) Have a great day, my Friend! Good evening! Nope, leaving the ones that I have done already, alone. I just threw that early pic of them in about to get the Tamiya Dark Yellow sprayed on. They had been in Primer overnight at that stage and I wanted to trim the Blue Tape down some for better coverage. Here are some current pics from today of the Turret and Upper Hull getting little Zimmerit add-ons that I had forgotten to apply and paint earlier.

Painless, I probably have an answer to this question among all the books about AFVs. (I have even more books about AFVs than model and RC AVFs. ) Were any Königstiger deployed and even in action in all Dunkelgelb? Yours is now interestingly different from the three-color camouflage we often see.

Good Morning, Herr Doc!
Like most of my German Builds, this King Tiger carries the 321 Unit Number. Something I am drawn to for some reason that I have no explanation for. Thus, unless I have rarely and specifically built a Vehicle with historic Unit proof ( Like Jagdtiger 321 ), all of my Builds fall into the 'Could Have Been There' category. I build them with equipment and crew for the Time period that they would have been in use for and that's as far as it goes. In the case of this King Tiger with the early Turret, it would have been part of the Armor sent to stem the Invasion of Europe by the Allies during the early days of the fighting in Normandy. Those Tanks were shipped by rail as close as possible to the Fighting then forced to do a Road March by Night to avoid Allied Air Attack and get to their Action Areas. Once there, Crews were given tins of paint to apply some rough camo right before being sent into action. My Build here is of the Vehicle traveling before Camo was applied. That's why it is in the basic Dunkelgelb over Zimmerit. Multicolored road wheels and missing spare tracks indicates use of spares from damaged tanks and extra track to complete the difficult March to get to the Fighting. Thanks for looking into my Tank but in this case, my Friend, you can save your Eyesight. It's just me being a Pattern Modeler.

Thank you for the explanation, Painless, and more photos. Yay! With the Professorship comes absentmindedness, with age comes dodomindedness. I actually meant to ask if any Königstiger were deployed and even in action in all DunkelGRAU? I should jolly well look it up myself, as there certainly are a few books around here.
