Yes yes you need to remove the left overs from the sides of the hull.
Too late now but recording a measurement centre to centre of the stock idlers is also important.
Not all adjustable idler mounts are created equal !!
Just dry fit one into position and check that it’s close to the centre line of your road wheels.
I have used a jig and a felt tip to mark the holes and either works.
Well onward we go. I had made measurements and marks, I hope it pans out because there's epoxy and CA glue already in play. We shall see...

24 hours later we will see...

In the mean time doing the vent screens is quite a bit more of a pain in the a55 than I had been led to believe. I did actually try to remove the ducting as it was shared previously that they were easy to pry off. Nahhh EVERYTHING on this thing is over glued to the max. I used the big razor wedge to pry all sorts of sections but alas it wouldn't let loose. So I just worked with it. I'm on the fence with the louvers but likely not.

Mr. Chef: with regard to the louvers you adroitly affixed to your unique armoured vehicle, I modestly offer this line of approbation: You done good!

Ahh Herr Doc no cart before the horse.

On we go. Yesssss Mr. Bix I'll do the damnedable louvers >:<

Quick rewind BIG thumbs up to JB Weld  making the rear panel whole again and dare I say more solid than it came out of the box. At the very least all the panels and such line up properly and everything fits together snugly.

Overkill? Nahhhh Merica!!! :haha: :haha: :haha:

so another mock up step by step

Image

Pulled the antennae stump. Filled the gap with a piece of sprue. A shot of extra thick CA glue and BOY am I loving the "kicker " CA accelerator. One pump and the CA instantly freezes and ready to sand if need be. A dab of Tammy fine putty and soon enough ready to be sanded.
Image

I must say that I did enjoy all of this stuff even more when using the tools and products and knowledge that I've acquired since the beginning of this hobby.

Headlight time. Sanded it progressively finer and my wife has these buffers she gave me that brought the hazy bulb back to clear.
Image

And of course to cap it off
Image

And then there's the louvers. Not perfect but not terribly hard. I'm sure I'll improve for the Stug. 1mm styrene sheet.

Annnnnd mocking up the PE screens

All quiet on the western front...

Screens done.

unfortunately some CA did smear on the edge of the screens. I'll have to poke it out of the holes but otherwise all went smoothly.
