Normally only gets thru the mechanical bit, then stops and moves to something else
This year there was a model craft competition and since the Long Tom was close to completion, he set about getting it done
The diorama was made using a bit of scrap wood(actually the centre hole bit from our sons Hornby train set when we cut out a central position for him to control the trains from) which seemed perfectly sized for the big artillery piece
Then using some old pine drawers from bedside table and some polystyrene assembled this dug out. Added a few resting and hungry soldiers to the mix and a visit from some screaming eagle airborne soldiers who had obviously arrived way off course from their dropzone.
The base has been designed so the artillery piece can be removed and towed behind a prime mover
The reason for the plaque is because the model show is not just for these types of model, but any model at all, in previous years William has been marked down as it was believe that all he did was buy a model kit and paint it. Whereas i thin we all know here there is alot more effort in it as he did all the design work, manufacture and build and paint and weathering.
