I did actually not write that with decals one "will always get silvering with waterslide decals." Nonetheless, you are
certainly correct that by writing that waterslide "decals...will 'silver' despite all our tricks and efforts so to avoid," I did imply "always." I should have constructed the sentence with a bit more care.
I have most often avoided the "silvering" effect by exactly the means you and Alan White indicate: gloss, gloss, then matte. And I use a decal setter whenever the decals are anything but extra thin. But once in a while--not often--I have seen a new decal become silvery around the edges despite tight trimming and clear coats before and after.
As for "Elite Armor" decals to which you linked. Will I try them? As they says in Minnesota "Ja, you betcha!"
