1944 Porsche 'P' Turret King Tiger w\Commander

Good Morning, my Friend,
I've been Retired since the 1st of June. I did receive all the Pamphlets and Booklets from the Gov. and signed up for the minimal amount of coverage since I am still covered by regular Insurance from the Spouse. To do otherwise would incur Fines and Taxes. 'They' never loosen their Grip until you have Stepped Away permanently. As far as the King Tiger goes. I see that I need to plug and paint the front two screw holes under the Turret (had overlooked them) and make up those Brass Clamps for the front loop of the Tow Hooks. I'll do those bits of work before disassembly of the Lower. (Need to add the bottom pin to the spare track links to keep them from flying off into the rough as well. It is never ending ;0)

Painless: at least your partner can provide insurance for you: it was the other way around for me, and after 12 years when the Alzheimer's finally took her away to special care, I went down to 1/3 income level. The furniture declined; the appliances are aged, the wooded outdoors went wild, and the driveway is returning to nature---but somehow I kept up with my hobbies. Hmm... twisted priorities? Who? Me?

I hear you. Without my Spouse' foresight, this Retirement would be a lot more of a Pain in the Keister financially. I am set for things to piddle away the years on without a Lot of new spending (says the 'damned fool' who just bought British armor). I am sure that I'll get the Frying Pan for it yet.

Good Afternoon,
Getting on with the KT Turret bits that I had overlooked. Screw holes in the bottom front of the turret were filled with 2 mini corks sliced to size and touch up painted. Onto the spare tracks. I am using four of the plastic ones (am sure that the few metal spares that I have will be needed sometime for track link replacements) and sanded and then filled the pin marks with 5 minute epoxy. Painted them then sanded lightly. Looks much better so hung them and used new pins to secure them in the track mounts. That started me on the last mounts for the Tow Cables for the Upper Hull, (as they did not come with those just pegs to stick into slots provided on the Upper). I looked at cutting four of them off of the spare plastic tow cables set and modding them to work. I decided to use the Brass ones in the Voyager set and mount them securely with Loc-Tite Ultra Gel. I managed to get one built to test fit before lumbering great Thunderstorms took away my daylight. I'll finish the other three tomorrow and paint them. Nothing left for the turret and upper hull except weathering after that when the build is complete.

Good Afternoon, Mr Chef!
Thank you, Sir! I just finished the other three. One of the tiny boxes that has the bridge mounted on it was eaten by the Carpet Monster early on. Fortunately, I had surplus ABER panels from older sets and found the piece I needed there and made it up. All the remaining clamps were mounted just as more Thunderstorms came through and put an end to the session today. I will paint them tomorrow and get on with the Lower Hull then. ( I need to fix the existing Smoker or replace it with one with a similar wire loom...We will see )

Good Evening all!
A quiet hour spent remembering how-to and then disassembling the Running Gear on the old Porsche King Tiger. It's a work night for das Spouse so I put off removing the road wheels and suspension arms until tomorrow. Which got me thinking, (always a bad thing)... about buying a modern plastic version of the HL
Kingtiger just for the modern electronics and smoker. I have already bought an upgraded HL KT and decided not to use it for parts since it was so nice a Tank. A cheaper version may allow me to overcome my idio(t)syncracies and take it apart to make the Porsche KT a better runner.

Sassgrunt! Good Morning!
Thank you, Sir! It's like coming Home. The metal Asiatam Suspension arms on this Tank are made better than the existing HL ones (back in the day). They have Grub Screws for the attachment of each road wheel to the corresponding arm. I would like to reuse them but they are slightly, just a hair too long for each one which adds up on the HL Lower when you get to the arm and road wheel facing the Sprocket. This was an issue for me back in the day and I had to alter that Sprocket to get the Set to work. It did but at too sharp an angle of lift and the road wheel would still touch the Sprocket. So I will use metal Heng Long Suspension arms this time ( were not available right after this Tank came out until some months later). Now if I could get my phone to drop the size of these Pics. *laughes* You have to be Louis or summat to have your work look good at that magnification.
