Tiger 1 front guard

Post by Gmhgq »

Hi all
Could someone tell which way the front guards swing when unhinged,
Scaling up to 1:6, but can't find any info or pics, not sure if it swings from back or side.

The main plate and upper section are bolted to the Tank the smaller rectangular side hinged section hinges UP,when the tank is being transported the rear fenders hinge OUT.
The Fenders on Tiger 1s are hinged to allow the Tank to travel on Railway flat cars without overhanging which is why the road Tracks are changed before loading with narrower transport tracks, the Cable on the side of the Tiger 1 is used to manipulate the transport tracks and the side fenders are unbolted and stowed on the top of the engine cover.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Hi Gmhgq , I recently did a Tiger 1 in 'transport' mode - with folding 'guards.
They should fold up like this -

I go to a Dolls House spares site for the long hinges when I make up my Tiger 1 front and rear fenders. They are also a good source of square hinges for Panzer 4 front fenders.
