Has any body fitted an Asiatam recoil unit with the high intensity flash LED into a HLTiger with a RX-18. ? If so whats it like ?
I know the latest HL recoil units out of the Stug/Jp are better/ cheaper and can be modded. I already have a Asiatam recoil unit fitted ( first ones ) and I don't want to do any major work inside the turret or have to fit an elevation unit. Just a straight swap as mines kaput.
Cheers
STEINER.

Do you realize how much I hate this uniform and all it stands for. ( Cross of Iron )
Re: Feed back wanted on Asiatam recoil unit with high intensity flash for RX-18
I've installed an Asiatam recoil & HL flash in my HL PzkwIV, connected to an RX-18 & DBC. (It wasn't easy, because the AT recoil came with nearly useless instructions on CD, and the HL flash didn't come with any!) I trigger the flash from the momentary contact switch on the recoil, which is activated when the barrel is fully retracted. It looks good when everything's synchronized. The mid-cycle flash isn't that bad since the barrel snaps rearward quickly. However, getting everything to trigger at the right time is iffy. If you've installed the momentary contact switch in the transmitter as the instructions show, the sound & IR emitter are triggered when the joystick is full up. If you move the joystick just right, the recoil and flash will trigger in synch with the sound. If you don't, the sound may be late, or you'll only get the sound & IR (& no recoil). You can also press the "K" switch just before moving the joystick up, and sometimes that works okay. The problem is that it's 2 systems trying to work together instead of a single integrated system (like ElMod or Tamiya).
This was just my experience with the DBC & RX-18 combo and there may be better ways to do this, so your mileage may vary...
