So just wanted to introduce myself. I am not new to the RC world as I race cars. But Tanks are a new thing.
So I watched a YouTube video of a 116 scale tiger 1 With camo and designated S33. It had a revised controller with better sound and gun control.
I want one lol.. can someone tell me is this a current model or now obsolete..
Thanks

Re: Hi From london
Ian Hi, Welcome to the Forum
Forgive my laughter but the Tiger 1 is far and away the most popular 1/16 rc Tank in our (and now your) Hobby,
There are a number of makers of it, The cheapest being Heng Long, then Taigen/Torro and Tamiya, there are others but these are the best known, Heng Long and Taigen/Torro are Ready to Run (RTR) Tamiya is a kit and more expensive than the others but the most authentic in detail once it was the leader in electronics but sadly those days are past,
The leader in electronics is probably Heng Long but it is debateable, it is cheaper as a basic model and lacking refinement, A few £££ more will get you a decent base upon which you can detail the vehicle including replacing the electronics with better aftermarket fixtures and fittings,
This is not a cheap hobby and you need to know that right from the beginning,
Start with a base price of £350 and that gives you an rc Tank with no frills but £1000 is not that unusual and if I or anyone else here added up the cost of their tanks and ancillaries it would be a long way north of that but both the hobby and this Forum are brilliant,
Come on in the waters lovely and we don't bite Well there are some who at the sound of the word Tiger tank do growl a bit but otherwise it is plain fun and instructional.
If I have not put you off a trustworthy dealer in the UK who is also a member of this Forum is Dave and his lady Julie @ www.forgebeartanks.com

Hello and welcome from Argyll and Bute. Another bloody Tiger. Grrrrrrr. The Tiger you have observed, maybe one of Mr Chef’s, but then they all look the same to me. I am sure Mr Chef will along shortly, to give you chapter and verse. In the meantime you could take a look at the dedicated Tiger section, if you haven’t already found it. This will give you some ideas..

Re: Hi From london
IanHill: jarndice has led you to just the information you need, and from London you have the advantage of great dealers to choose among for not only the HengLong, Taigen/Torro (same thing) or Tamiya tiger. For starts, I recommend a HengLong Tiger 1 with metal upgrades. I have three or four (or five? six?) Taigen or Torro Tiger 1s, but the new HengLong electronics are much better, and I am told that the sound is O.K. for a Tiger's Maybach engine, too. Ask questions as you need.
Re: Hi From london
Welcome Ian. I think you mean this Tiger S33 from Heng Long shown on the Motion RC site.
Toucan hobby is also selling them lately. But their prices were higher than Motion RC in the states where I am.
IIRC it is only available with plastic wheels and tracks but that could be upgraded if you wanted.
The most important thing I'd want in a Heng Long would at least be "Steel" gears not "Metal" gears as those are failure prone cast white metal.

Hello from the Jersey of New, USA.
You did the right thing by asking questions before you take the plunge.
Check out eBay even if just to compare features and pricing, etc.
Heng Long Tiger 1s require a lot of revisions to make them "realistic".
Check out the "Things to Fix" Forum before you spend your pounds.
