I just wanted to make sure that you didn't go and do a lot of nice work like you have on your JT then find out latter that it is not correct. A lot of people under estimate how much time can be invested in these builds. Happy tanking. John.

On my KT’s, I worked with poly strips too.
Used a thickness of 2.0 mm.
The edges from the sideskirts left on some of them, were filed down to a minimum thicknes.
But only at the sides you can look onto!
When you leave them the way they are after sawing/cutting them, they are too thick.

Wow, they look Really great!!!!

I've got some questions too!!!

Im not following on your procedure...

What size strips did you use? I attached a picture of the ones I used. They dont seem to be enough.

That is on heck of a fleet of king tigers you have there!!!

Now that I look the pic over mine are 2mm also but the 6.3mm is not enough. Curious of that you used!Image

Well, it's been a while since I build these beasts, but a 2mm polystyrene plate is the thickest one I have.
Got a plate of that poly stuff and cut the stripes myself.
Had to be sure, they covered that part of the lower hull which is above the tracks.
Sometimes those parts above the tracks are not very straight, so it is possible they stick out underneath the poly stripes, and that was what wanted to avoid.
Must take one apart to check that stuff I made.
I will come back on it asap.

The question was 25% Rhetorical and 75% WTF? :O :O :O You have THAT many King Tigers??? Most impressive and they all look fantastic. Now I don't feel at all bad about my Tiger I obsession. Heck Now I want to build a similar Tiger Zug :D

Which group are they based off of? I'll have to plan 4 Tiger I's now... :headbang:

Well, actually I do not build tanks from a special unit at all.
All 4 of mine are the plastic versions from HL, with the 7.0 board.
As I still haven’t finished my airbrush workspace, I had to keep the HL camo pattern and had to be carefull not to ruin it too much while taking the skirts off!
Just aded the Hinterhalt Tarnung.
But I am satisfied with the overall look of them.
BTW, I do not even have 4 KT’s, also 4 Tiger 1’s, 4 StuG’s, 4 Panzer 4’s and a bunch of Panthers too.
So not one specific model I am addicted to.
I do have some static models still in their boxes and several unfinished projects laying around.
Running out of space so no more new tanks on their way.
But this time of the year, not much time for modelling.
Our yards consume a lot of energy and work.

@ Shameless86:
Sorry for this very late reply about the Polystrips I used.
Took one KT apart a few minutes ago, measured the poly strips and as I mentioned before, these are 2mm thick.
I also noticed I used strips from 0,2mm cut out of a plastic card to make the entire sides go almost flush with the upper hull.
So about 2.2mm all together.
Rob.
