And though probably a bit premature, on goes the primer!
Makes it seem like coherent progress and allows things to be spotted for extra finishing.............
NAHhhh I just love the smell of primer in the morning
Gettin it done, want to move on to the next project & I really don't even know what that is yet !
Thanks Mr Mechaniker it’s growing on me & certainly is adding to the research spectrum!
Looking at the pics I saw a glaring omission, periscopes
Quickly whipped a few up & attached in close proximity to where they need to be.
They will paint up ok .
Using Nato Black XF-69 for us Tamiya Acrylic users, got my shadow on.
No point being fussy as a camo net will hide most of this thing anyway.
As the engine deck vents dont have actual gaps in the louvres, adding a bit of darkness under the upcoming green topcoat seemed appropriate.
Those of you astute model builders will notice that the exhaust pipes are conspicuous........................ by their absence !!
Impatience getting the better of me, I needed progress & I can always add the Lake Pipes & rear mudflaps after the fact.
Keeping in mind this is not a representation of the Sistine Chapel & as such has no worth, getting it close enough is fine by me!
And the ole Favorite.........Russian Green
If it wasnt going to have an overpainted cam pattern, and a net I would definitely do a highlight/modualted job over this green, but for what it needs to be now & having a lot of extra covering, this monotone will do.
Its shaping op well now from the out of the box E1.
For years, Bix, I had so much practice at getting thorough coverage on many 1/16 farm tractors I restored that now I cannot get a pre-shading to work. I just cover it with the base coat. I will keep trying one some tank someday.
Well a blending session to get the kooky yellow/green onto this thing was a tough gig.
It looks more green in real life than it photographs so Im not 100% sold on it yet.
The brown I will use the same stuff I put on the Ugandan T55 a while back as it has a lot more red than brown in it.
Once the net goes over it the entire point becomes moot anyway!!
Herman!
Great progress! You're dragging the Basic Model into the light as your vision of the Vehicle. All the kit bashing and parts making has turned out excellently. Following along!
regards,
Painless

Very cool. Has to be one of the most unique builds here ever
Thanks Mr Mechaniker, there are certainly lots of unique builds in here over many years so its nice to be able to perhaps bring a small concept to life in amongst the myriad of fantastic ideas.
