My T-14 Armata by Warprints

Post by tankme »

I don't think I really shared anything about this project in the past. I pretty much printed it and got distracted. The files are of course from Warprints. They are very detailed and the build manual is very good. Tank is a combination of PETG for the less detailed hull parts, ASA for the more detailed upper hull, and resin parts for the really detailed details. :) Oh, and the dust skirts are printed in TPU so that they are flexible along with the tires on the road wheels. Tracks will be Heng Long metal tracks for the T72/T90 tanks. Needed more than one set as the Armata is a long tank. The remote gun station has a servo installed in it.

Hand some more of my window screen laying around so it was added above the motors. The smoky colored parts are resin prints.

Had some Heng Long CNC machined gearboxes laying around that were originally removed from the metal Heng Long Abrams hull in favor of the enclosed 540 powered gearboxes. They fit nicely in the Armata as my other set of 540 gearboxes wouldn't fit.

With all of the discussions about texture, I figured I share this because it has really fine texture on it which required a different approach. I ended up using a really fine granite texture paint on the front end of my 3D printed hull. Great part was it filled in the print lines and left a very nice fine texture which looks very close to the original IMO.

What I was trying to replicate:

And how it turned out:

I do have a few parts left to print on the tank in clear resin and some wiring to finish up. After that it will be pretty much ready for paint.

That's all for now...

I am just awestruck when I see all the things you guys can "print" these days :O

Cats out of the bag, keep sharing this one.
